Start was at 7:00 am so I had to wake up at 4:30 am because I still had to travel there, unpack and blow up the kayak which was my assurance boat as well as a feeding point during the swim. The weather did not spoil, just after the start, there was a downpour, which obviously did not affected me but was not undifferent to my rowing crew. I knew the swim route well. I went the previous day along the shore to see the characteristic points. 6 km; 14.3km; 21.5km. The water temperature was super, I would even say a little too warm (22C). First km without problems. At 14km everything was still ok although I felt my arms slowly being tired. Passing the 21.5 km point was already “out of the hill” since it was only 4.5 km left and in the distance I have seen the finish line.
At the finish I was slightly tired – I swum 26km – It takes a bit energy ..
